Grand Daddy I.U.: We did that shit at Powerplay [Studios]. Buckwild had did the track. The nigga just called me. I did it on the strength of, that was my dude. There was no money involved. No sales. If I'm cool with you, if you want me to get on the joint – I just do it.

AllHipHop.com: Out of the blue, or were y'all friends?

Grand Daddy I.U.: I met him 'cause he was on Columbia in the Sony building. That's when Cold Chillin' had distribution through Epic. We all went on a promo tour. Nas, Big L, MC Eiht, me, Supercat – all the muthafuckas that was under the Sony umbrella at the time. That's how we got cool and shit. Then, I used to check him in Harlem sometimes. He called me like, "Yo, come get on this joint." I didn't even know what it was, I just went, heard the beat, he had like eight muthafuckas in there rhymin' and shit, Party Arty and them niggas.

AllHipHop.com: Was Jay-Z there?

Grand Daddy I.U.: Nah, he wasn't even there. He had already did his verse. A.G. was supposed to get on it. He came through, but was like, "I ain't even gonna fuck with this shit, it's ripped already."

AllHipHop.com: Did you and L remain close after?

Grand Daddy I.U.: Nah. Actually, when he got killed, I hadn't seen the nigga in a minute. He wasn't in the same circle. We wasn't in the industry the way we was [then]. That was my man though. We wasn't on no everyday shit though.

"You appeared on Positive K's 'Minnie The Moocher', how did that go down…?

Pos K is my man and he asked me to do it so I did. No pay, no nothing.

And how was it like to be on the incredible 'posse' cut, Big L's 'Da Graveyard', why hasn't there been anymore collabos with D.I.T.C. members?

Same thing with Big L. L was my dude, him and Finesse. But I wasn't as cool with the rest of the crew so I was never recruited to be on another track but I would've done it no problem."

4XL: Now, the other MC's on the "8 Iz Enuff" posse cut - Terra, Buddah Bless, Big Twan, Trooper J and Mike Boogie. What were those guys' association with Big L? Were they his people from around the way?

McGruff: That was a mixture of people from around the way and like extended family. Like big Buddah Bless, he was from out the Bronx. Um.. Terra, he was from Staten Island. And um.. Trooper J, he was from Harlem, from the Hill, like Broadway. So we had knew him. And like, Mike Boogie he was also from the Hill. Big L and Trooper J used to go Julia Richmond High School and that's how they met. L just put that whole thing together.

4XL: What happened to some of those guys? I know we talked about Microphone Nut earlier, but did any of these guys continue to pursue rap music?

McGruff: Basically everybody got families, jobs and kids. Everybody grown men by now. Mike Boogie, he was incarcerated too but he out now. He's working right now but he still doing his craft, he's still rhyming. He's got some stuff that's comin' out too. Nah mean? And Terra, I don't know what's up with that dude, I haven't heard from him in I don't know how long.
